We start with a free 15-minute phone consultation. This is your chance to share what’s bringing you to therapy and what you’re looking for, while we explain our approach and answer any questions. It’s important to feel comfortable with your therapist and confident in their expertise, so if it doesn’t feel like the right fit, we’re happy to provide referrals to help you find the right match.
If we’re a good fit, we’ll schedule your first session. During this session, we’ll explore your experiences, relationships, and goals to get a clear picture of what’s most important to you. We’ll work together to deepen your understanding of yourself, your relationships, and your family, helping you identify what’s working well and where you’d like to grow. Using this understanding, we’ll create a therapy plan tailored to your unique needs and goals..

Confidentiality in therapy means that what you share with your therapist is private and protected. It allows you to speak openly, knowing that your personal information won’t be disclosed without your consent.
There are a few exceptions where therapists are required to break confidentiality:
Safety Concerns: If you express an intent to harm yourself or someone else, your therapist is obligated to act to protect safety.
Abuse or Neglect: Therapists must report suspected abuse or neglect of children, elders, or dependent adults.
Legal Requirements: If a court orders the release of specific information, your therapist may be required to comply.
Limited Secrets in Couples Therapy: In couples therapy, we follow a "limited secrets policy." This means that if one partner shares a "secret" with the therapist—something the other partner doesn’t know about and that could significantly impact the future of the romantic relationship or balance of the therapeutic relationship—it must be disclosed in the next session. If the secret is not disclosed, we would need to end services and refer the couple to a new therapist to maintain the integrity of the therapeutic process and relationship balance. This policy helps ensure that therapy remains a space for honesty, openness, and mutual progress.
Your therapist will discuss these limits to confidentiality with you at the start of therapy so you fully understand how your privacy is protected and when exceptions may apply. This ensures a secure and supportive environment for your sessions.

The No Surprises Act is a federal law designed to protect clients from unexpected costs in healthcare, including therapy. It ensures you have clear information about the costs of services before they begin, helping you avoid financial surprises.
In the context of therapy, the No Surprises Act requires therapists to provide a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) for the cost of treatment to clients who:
Are uninsured, or
Choose not to use their insurance for therapy services.
The Good Faith Estimate includes:
The expected cost of sessions and services.
An estimate of how many sessions you may need, based on the issues you’re addressing.
Information on how to address any disputes about unexpected charges.
Therapists must provide this estimate in writing before your first session or upon request. While the exact duration of therapy can vary depending on your needs, the estimate helps you make informed decisions about your care and finances. If you have questions about your Good Faith Estimate or the cost of therapy, your therapist will explain and address any concerns to ensure transparency.
