Nurturing Balance
What is Nurturing Balance?
Nurturing Balance is a thoughtfully crafted workbook designed to empower couples during the perinatal period. It addresses the inequities of household labor and the mental load that often leads to frustration and resentment. This evidence-based framework enables couples to intentionally divide tasks and balance responsibilities, fostering a supportive environment that helps mitigate the risks and intensity of postpartum mood and anxiety disorders.
Nurturing Balance is made for:
Nurturing Balance is available in three distinct formats, each catering to specific audiences:
For Therapists: A version specifically designed for therapists to support their parent and couple clients during the perinatal period.
For Perinatal Health Professionals: Ideal for doulas, nurses, OBYGNs, lactation consultants, and other health professionals working with parents and couples.
For Parents and Couples: A practical version designed for parents and couples to navigate the challenges of the perinatal period together.
Why equitable division of mental load and household labor matters:
Support from partners is crucial for maintaining mental health during the perinatal period. Low levels of support can heighten the risk of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), while a shared approach to household tasks and mental load significantly enhances relationship satisfaction. By fostering an equitable division of responsibilities, couples can not only strengthen their relationship but also proactively prevent and alleviate the symptoms of PMADs.
